With its stunning landscapes, vibrant cities and rich culture, Denmark is an ideal destination for travellers from all over the world. As an Airbnb host in this beautiful country, you can offer visitors an authentic experience of local life while earning some extra income. However, there’s a few things hosts need to know about the Danish government collaboration with Airbnb, if you are thinking about advertising on the platform.
Marketing a holiday rental in Denmark
Many vacation rental hosts in Denmark choose to create an Airbnb login. This is unsurprising, as Airbnb is one of the most popular booking sites in the world, with thousands of vacation rental hosts in Denmark using the platform. Millions of guests book properties every year all over Denmark, with the most popular destinations being Copenhagen and Aarhus. There are many other channels you can use to advertise a vacation rental in Denmark, such as Expedia and Vrbo. With Travelnest, hosts can advertise a vacation rental on over 30 top booking sites including Airbnb, all from the one account. This helps you as a host get more global exposure and bookings.
Vacation rental regulations in Denmark
It’s important to familiarise yourself with the tax rules associated with renting out a property in Denmark, so that you can remain compliant when filing taxes each year. We recommend investigating your local government regulations as well as checking the Danish government site. If you do choose to rent a holiday home on Airbnb, there’s a few things you need to know about the Danish government collaboration with Airbnb.
Since 2019, Airbnb has been collaborating with the Danish government to share basic information for income tax purposes; which in return allows hosts to share primary entire homes for 70 nights a year. Municipalities can vote to raise this limit to 100 nights a year (compared to 30 nights on non-data sharing platforms). There are no night limits on sharing private rooms and summer houses. Additional rules for sharing a private room or summer house do apply. Check out The Airbnb Home Sharing in Denmark guide for further information.
