How the business developed
Matt set up the business in 2013. Initially, he made the yurts himself with the help of a local sailmaker. As the business grew, he was able to purchase additional yurts and make improvements to the site, adding two well-equipped kitchen areas and two wet rooms with showers, toilets and hot water - sourced from a natural spring and heated using solar power.
When the business began, Matt used Facebook and also advertised the yurts in various magazines and newspapers. He also relied on word to mouth from previous customers to get bookings. He was spending more and more time on marketing but wasn’t sure of the best ways to advertise the yurts. He first heard about TravelNest from a friend who runs a glamping site. They’d already had a successful increase in bookings and occupancy from using TravelNest and recommended he try it too.
“I decided to go with TravelNest because I needed more bookings. I needed to increase my exposure. TravelNest works with all the big booking channels such as Airbnb, TripAdvisor, Expedia and Booking.com.”

For Matt, TravelNest ticked all the boxes, and the increase in bookings meant he could concentrate on the day-to-day running of his site. Bookings for all the properties at West Kellow Yurts have increased since working with TravelNest.
